President Viktor Yushchenko declares that dissolving of the ‘orange coalition’ and forming of the anti-crises coalition do not meet the Ukrainian Constitution and the VR Procedural Rules.
The president addressed to the Verkhovna Rada MPs with the following statement:
“Under such conditions the formation and activity of the new coalition, including any propositions to the president of Ukraine, without cessation of activity of the previous coalition cannot be interpreted as those corresponding to the Constitution and the VR Procedural Rules.”
According to the president, if the Verkhovna Rada takes decisions “contradictory to the principles of the European parliamentarism, it empowers him to doubt their legitimacy and take adequate steps.”
“Proceeding from the aforesaid, I propose to ensure the effective parliamentary work in full accordance with the Ukrainian Constitution and the VR Procedural Rules, to solve questions on the coalition of the MPs factions and nomination for premier, refraining from any hasty decisions,” summarized the president.
