President of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin believes that events in Ukraine may lead to “total tyranny”.
“We had a hope for the men in Ukraine but they have also brought themselves into discredit, things are going towards total tyranny,” he said in his interview to the journalists of printed media from the G8 countries.
“Full violation of the Constitution (in Ukraine), of all the laws and so on,” noted the President of Russia.
His words about Ukraine were in part an answer to the question of whether he considers himself “a pure democrat”. Mr. Putin answered this question laughing, reports Interfax-Ukraine.
Mr. Putin said that he views Ukraine’s possible accession to the European Union positively.
“We are for strengthening of the European Union. We have never said anything bad about this process, if you have noticed. It is just that I don’t know if the European Union itself is ready to accept new members and also manage its extension on account of Ukraine,” noted Mr. Putin.
“As far as I can see there is no such readiness yet,” stressed the President of Russian Federation.
