Foreign experts advise to start working on Ukrainian image today to attract tourists from abroad to the European football championship in 2012.
Ukraine is little known abroad, that is why the number of football tournament visitors may turn out to be smaller than expected, reports Deutsche Welle.
German experts advise to stake on Klitschko brothers, Andriy Shevchenko and modern Ukrainian writers such as Andrukhovych or Deresh in preparing the Euro 2012 PR campaign.
Foreigners identify these people with Ukraine and their image can be effectively used to attract tourists to the football championship, believes the head of German tourism consulting company Folk Ganke.
Moreover, NGOs and journalists could also promote the country abroad.
“It is necessary to make news about Ukraine all the time so that it is talked about. And NGOs can distribute information through their networks and cooperation with their counterparts,” stated Mr. Ganke.
Representatives of German economy Eastern committee suggest that Ukrainians pay more attention to the development of hotel infrastructure and entertainment complexes. Besides, German experts stress that cheap flights need to be introduced in Ukraine by 2012. These flights will be used by football fans from Europe where flying is more widespread than traveling by train.
